The third area was a stage for Steve Hay’s drama: ‘The Future Never Knows’. Performed in front of a digital screen projection of the triptych by Steve and Lucy Hoult, the drama presented a different take on a socially bonding discomfort. Since both actors had modelled for the triptych in the past, the paintings became alive. Steve directly addressed the audience, confessing how their sensitivity to different levels of actor-audience engagement altered every live performance with no exception.

The drama prepared the visitors for their self-reflection metaphorically explored in the fourth area: By behaving as they did, how did they influence or alter what others could experience and see?
