The fourth area, entitled ‘In Another World’, contained framed mirrors and the background information. A cut-up curtain with the triptych’s ‘Hope’ painting printed on it, at the doorway, created an illusion of entering into the artist’s mind.
Digitised works of the referenced Old Masters exposed continuities in human nature and painting techniques. Contemporary sources of inspiration and the artists’ biographical notes broadened the context for personal interpretations of the show. The visitors could watch a live recording of how they themselves had engaged with the gallery paintings. They could also see themselves in mirror-reflections that changed with their every move – a silent reminder to all of their own responsibilities for creating value in life and art.
